If you require a big commercial vehicle for your business, the evergreen Peugeot Boxer really deserves to be on your shortlist. Available in an array of lengths, heights and body styles, this hugely versatile van would benefit almost any kind of enterprise.
The Boxer comes in Panel Van and Window Van body styles, and the former is available in Standard and Professional trim levels. The vehicle’s length and height can be varied too: there are four of the former and three of the latter (L1 to L4 and H1 to H3). Flexible access to the Boxer is possible thanks to twin 180-degree-opening rear doors and a nearside sliding side door.
Inside the van, the driver is provided with a reach-adjustable steering wheel, making it easy to establish a comfortable position. Panel Van models are most suited to a team of two, while Window Van iterations are ideal for a crew of people, while still making plenty of room for cargo. A number of useful stowage spaces feature around the cab, including large door pockets, a pair of glove boxes (one of which is lockable) and an overhead compartment.
A full steel bulkhead provides a safe barrier between travellers and freight in Panel Van iterations of the Boxer. Load space ranges between 8,000 litres and 15,000 litres (as much as 17,000 litres with Standard Panel Van and Crew Van variants), depending on the vehicle length selected. Similarly, payload varies from 1,155kg to 1,900kg.
The Peugeot Boxer is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine, which comes in 109bhp, 131bhp or 161bhp power outputs. Depending on the chosen model and length/height configuration, this returns as much as 47.1mpg and produces CO2 emissions as low as 158g/km (L1 versions).
Technology and safety
Each edition of the Boxer is fitted with an AM/FM tuner and DAB digital radio, and includes AUX and USB inputs and Bluetooth connectivity. Professional Panel Van grades additionally include a touchscreen display.
A number of driver aids and passive safety features are featured as standard. Electronic Stability Programme and an Anti-lock Braking System are included, which help combat loss of traction on less-than-forgiving surfaces. A driver’s airbag and height-adjustable three-point seatbelts feature too, as does a spare wheel, just in case of emergencies.
