DRIVERS OF NEW ASTRA WILL ‘WANT FOR VERY LITTLE’ SAYS DAVID
The latest praise for the British-built Astra has caught the eye of David Goldthorpe, Arthurs Vauxhall Retail Operator.
He is taken with the widespread appreciation that an already ‘remarkable’ car is now the Ultimate edition and, as the name implies, is an Astra loaded with the ultimate in kit.
He was commenting on a report that drivers of the new Astra now want for very little as virtually everything that can be bolted, clipped, chipped and slipped into the car – has been.
“The report quite rightly states that if you want to add to an already respectable specification, you can choose keyless stop and start, two-coat premium paint, fully electric seats and a power tilt and slide sunroof,” said David.
“As the report says, all that is on top of heated seats and steering wheel, eight-inch full colour touchscreen, leather trim, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic adjustable cruise control, automatic lights, automatic wipers, dual zone ‘climate control’, hill start assist, tyre pressure warning and sat nav.”
Said David: “The Astra is highly responsive, and will really get a move on if you ask it to.
“The Astra decelerates as well as it accelerates. The ride is supple, and the usual speed humps and potholes are absorbed without too much discomfiture.
“The Astra will adopt any personality its driver wants, from warm hatch to stolid and economical hatchback. It is a likeable servant.
“A compact, luxurious but cheap to run model has a definite appeal. As the report says, in terms of handling it’s up there with its competitors,” he added.
New Astra is in the showrooms of Arthurs’ dealerships in Oswestry and Newtown.
